P.C. 1/26/71 Mass Trial Scheduling Undecided No decision has yet been made on whether a mass trial of 191 protestors will be rescheduled, City Atty. Jay Honohan said today. A series of legal maneuvers stalled the trial earlier this month until District Court Judge Ansel Chapman set aside a stay order delaying the trial Jan. 12. Since then, Honohan said, he had one "brief" conversation with Police Judge Joseph Thornton regarding the trial, but no decision was reached. "We'll be reviewing procedures," Honohan said, "in the light of" Thornton's action directing not guilty verdicts for 19 persons originally set to be tried with the 191. Honohan said he had "no idea" when a decision might be reached on whether a trial of the 191 will go on. The 191—and the 19 already acquitted—were arrested early the morning of May 8 as they sat on the steps of Old Capitol to protest the invasion of Cambodia and the killing of four Kent State University students.
