ROTC TRAINED OFFICERS HAVE LED TROOPS TO BREAK UP WORKERS STRIKES. Government troops were used to break up the GE workers strike early this year in Vermont. The government stated the strike was not in the "National Interest" because it was hurting the war effort. (GE is one of the largest defense contractors). Remember Dow Chemical??? One of the main objections to kicking ROTC off campus, for those who oppose the War in Vietnam and US foreign policy, is that ROTC HAS A RIGHT JUST AS SAILING CLUB, YAF, OR SDS, TO BE ON CAMPUS. ROTC IS NOT REQUIRED, AND THEREFORE SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO THEIR THING. -- WE THINK THAT THIS ARGUMENT IS WRONG. ROTC, as an institution, is not some harmless program, designed to make better men out of college students. It has one purpose: to provide the army with officers, to fight in Vietnam, and wherever else our " National Interest" dictates. ROTC, as an institution, is not some harmless program, designed to make better men out of college students. It has one purpose: to provide the army with officers, to fight in Vietnam, and wherever our " National Interest" dictates. ROTC is not an "extra cirricular" that can be separated from the war and US foreign policy. We can effectively oppose the Vietnam war and US foreign policy, by opposing the ROTC at the University of Iowa. [handwritten] ACTION WILL FOLLOW!
