MID-WEST Fan News uld be the most reliable to the uninvolved fan who merely [[underline]]wants the news[[end underline]], and not a lot of propogandically inclined material of doubtful trustworthiness? We believe the "Mid-west" bias is as near to absolute impartiality as geography and the will to remain neutral permits. So.....we give you MID-WEST Fan News. Its purpose is simply to pa[?] the news and items we receive from this locality, as well as all important centers of fan activity---on to you, without adding out own personal "dabbles".- At the outset, MID-WEST is on rather[?] unsteady footing,to be frank. Our problem is not financial, nor does it represent difficulty in putting such a publication out at bi-weekly intervals. The great question mark is the uncertainty of obtaining sufficient interest, early enough so as to mean at least a partial scoop of the rest of the field. For a magazine with news that was news is no good. The problem has been tried from the angle of posting correspondents in key centers, who attempt to dig up whatever news there is in his locality. But it's impossible to cover every spot, large and small, where fan news is being made. Thus, we call upon YOU, the fans who not only read the news, but help [[underline]]make[[end underline]] it,to send in a few items every time something of interest to the rest of the field develops in your center of activity. You may not believe it, but we'd rather have your news than your money! We want to make MID-WEST Fan News a success; with your support we believe the fan field will have the reliable, "neutral" news publication it really needs. Our policy is pro-science fiction fandom, anti-anti-science fiction fandom. In short, we have no axe to grind.
