-2- The Iowa State Employment Agency appears not to have been 'as good as their word! A couple of incidents which have been reported to the Labor and Industry Committee are currently being investigated. Employment is a major area of national concern, but refusal to even issue an application blank is intolerable. We are cognizant of the fact that certain qualifications are desirable for different jobs, but we also know that these are determined by information which is gained from an application which has been filled out. Conferences to appease must be a thing of the past! As soon as the local agency responds to the inquiry of the Labor and Industry Committee, the facts will be made public and appropriate action will be taken. Your cooperation is needed in the Voter Registration Drive. The leaders of all of the Civil Rights Organizations stress this as being one of the most important functions of every local group. Have you registered to vote? Do so...or contact the committee chairman, Orville Woods. Don't forget our Selective Buying Campaign...! Woolworths Allens Rashids (Those connected with the Palms) Don't you agree that it is illogical to spend money in a place where you cannot even obtain an application blank for a job? Also, it is just as undesirable to to have areas clearly defined for your presence and the spending of your dollar! The choice is YOURS..., but the fight is OURS! Our membership is still growing! Have YOU joined? YOU are important in this fight! JOIN NOW! CALLING ALL MEMBERS!!! NAACP MASS RALLY September 8, 1963 7:30 P.M. Second Baptist Church Be prompt! Everyone is invited! Tentative plans for a March and subsequent meeting with the Mayor will be submitted to the branch at the Mass Rally for their approval! All opinions are wanted..., and needed! Be there! Let your voice be hear! The March on Washington signaled the beginning of a new era in the struggle for civil rights. It also pointed out the fact that each of us have a responsibility as individuals in attaining first-class citizenship. As we fight for our rights with a renewed zeal and vigor...lets work to quality for jobs...lets participate in community affairs..., and let our conduct be beyond reproach! We are not alone...but in a fight which involves all mankind! WE have a dream...and We shall overcome!
