Oh, let's build bridges everywhere And span the gulf of challenge there. By Georgia Douglas Johnson May 14, 1964 is the date for the Closed circuit Nationwide NAACP telecast. The show will be viewed at the KRNT Theatre in Des Moines, as well as in other large cities around the country. Steve Allen, Duke Ellington, Lena Horne and Sammy Davis and many other will lend their talents for the show. The purpose of the show is to commemorate the 10th anniversary of that precedent-setting Supreme Court decision in 1954 on school desegregation. Details concerning reservations will be given at the next meeting. From NOW...until May 24,...the membership campaign committee will be hard 'at it', trying to reach the membership goal which they have set for themselves! If you are not a member...and have considered joining...but have questions to ask, any of the persons serving on the campaign committee will be glad to talk to you! Altho' two organized teams will be working,...EVERY member is expected to solicit new members! The captains of the membership campaign teams are: Mr. Wendell Carter and Mrs. Norma Woods. JOIN THE FIGHT FOR FREEDOM...TODAY! If you aren't a member,...join in '64! Members of the esecutive committee of the Iowa State Conference of Branches met in Des Moines this past weekend. Mr. Joseph Dulin and Mr. Wendell Carter members of the committee, will give a report at the next regular meeting!
