"If we fill our hours with regrets ever the failures of yesterday, and with worries ever the problems of tomorrow, we have no today in which to be thankful!

Dear Member:
Please take notice that a regular meeting of the general membership of the Fort Madison, Iowa, Branch will be held at City Hall, November 20, 1966 at 5:30PM for the purpose of nominating officers and members of the Executive Committee. The Nominating Committee, elected at the October meeting, will submit its report. Additional nominations of the officers and members of the Executive Committee may be made at this meeting by written petition, signed by three or more members of the branch in good standing. Bring this notice or membership card as identification. Please plan to be present.

This branch has lost, once more, one of its staunchest supporters with the passing of Father Boyles. The wisdom he shared with many of us, should serve to strengthen us as we strive to attain our organizational goals.

"What counts is not the number of hours you put in,....but what you put into the hours."

We must lament the reticence on the part of the local clergymen and the good Christians of this community to concern themselves with the ever present problems of racial discrimination. As long as people fee a need to hide their heads in the sand and try to ignore something which exists...there is a very definite problem,...but hiding and evasion will not make it go away. The only way of finding a solution can be found is in the initiating of constructive and rational programs which are conducted by those who are dedicated to making the American dream...a reality. This, however, cannot be attained without those who profess to hold Christian ideals, dear.

"If you have learned to walk....a little more sure-footedly than I,
Be patient with my stumbling then...And know that only as I do my best
and try...
May I attain the goal....For which we both are striving."

If through experience your soul...has gained height which I
As yet, in dim-lit vision see,...Hold out your hand and point the way,
Lest from its straightness I should stray...and walk a mile with me."
