Ralley-Free The Chicago 9- NOW The fate of the 7 remaining defendants in the Chicago Conspiracy Trial has been decided. They will spend from 2mo. to 8yrs. in jail. Judge Hoffman not content with this sentenced their lawyers to fates as equal (4and2 yrs.) The legal representatives of Chicago (Mayor Daley and his attorneys) say the 7 are lucky considering what they could have gotten for their crime. Their crime (and ours) is simply that we disagree with this system that breeds racism, genocide, and oppression. The Chicago 9 was not a trial of conspiracy and crossing state lines to incite riots but the trial of an entire generation. Right here in River City we observe that the Iowa legislature continues its support of the national hysteria. Defense of property (watermelons to TV sets) legally justifies taking a life. Possession of our generation's drug, Maryjane, gets a mandatory 2 years while drunks continue to slaughter on the highways. Our trusted police forces are given legal access to our private conversations. Big Brother is everywhere. Right here is River City our friendly Police Institute trains men for "riot control". Our campus and towns swarms with Narcs and all manner of undercover creeps. Student Health denies women the right to control their own bodies via contraception and abortion is illegal. A peaceful demonstration against the war at Cornell and here is examined by Hoover's private army, the F.B.I. The people are on trial. The domestic policy of repressing alternate life styles, of smashing dissent with the booted heel of the garrison state, of keeping the Black and Brown sub-nations down by military occupying force, is merely a reflection of our foreign policy. Wherever the starving masses of the "free world" demand read or land or dignity--revolutionary demands if there are any-- the U.S. always defends local oligarchs in the mane of democracy (law 'n' order). Military aid for the puppets, if that fails Green Berets for "special war", the Marines (from the Halls of Montezuma to wherever the Hell we please!), then bombers and napalm and defoliants. The armed violent state of the country knows only one ultimate answer to any people's demands for their own life, their dignity, their freedom: brute force. Right there in the 13 colonies a lot of people got mad over the Redcoats stomping around their country, living in their houses, kicking in their doors, spying to make sure the tea tax had been paid. They got together and offed the pig. 200 years later we are still kept down by an army of Bluecoats. Continue the American Revolution! This Amerikkkan Babylon must be brought down! It is up to us. For every brother and sister that is pulled down another one of us must stand up and cry out, ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE.
