[Handwritten] May 11, 1970 DI (EXTRA) Police Arrest 228 Friday Early Friday morning 228 persons were arrested at the Pentacrest when they did not leave the area as directed by officers. Richard W. Heinberg was charged with assualt to commit great bodily injury. Rick Williams was charged with resisting arrest, and Michael Metcalf was charged with annoyance of prisoners. The remainder were charged with disorderly conduct. [Bolded] All those arrested for disorderly conduct were reported released on $100 bond Friday afternoon. Williams' bond was set at $400. Bond on Heinberg and Metcalf was not known. Williams, Hienberg and Metcalf were reported still in Iowa City Civic Center Jail Monday evening. The Daily Iowan learned Friday evening from Roger Weingarten, G, Cleveland, Ohio, that several Iowa City businessmen had contributed "substantially" to the bail fund for demonstrators arrested here Friday morning. The businessmen requested to remain unidentified. [Bolded] Prominent names on the list of these arrested were George Forell, director of the School of Religion, the Rev. Roy Wingate, paster of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, the Rev. Ronald Osborne, of Trinity Episcopal Church, Ben McGlimer and Omar Hazley, University basketball players, and Donald Smith, former student body president of Iowa State University. Charged were: Donald Smith, Stephen Brown, George Forell, Alan Steeal, Steven L. Klindt, Paul D. Scott, Sidney A. Jacobson, Suzanne M. Bruot, Kathy J. Bradley, Roy B. Wingate, Victoria L.
