Protesters Block U of I Job Office By Larry Eckholt (Registered Staff Writer) IOWA CITY , IA - Under the watchful eye of University of Iowa officials, more than 150 militant antiwar demonstrators staged a rowdy sit-in at the U of I placement office Wednesday, disrupting job interviews there for nearly an hour. The demonstration - sponsored by the U of I Chapter of Students for Democratic Society (SDS) - was held to protest a scheduled appearance of recruiter for the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) at the placement office Wednesday afternoon. The recruiter Robert Kravetz of Washington, D.C. canceled his interviews with seven U of I students when he was informed that protesters were awaiting his arrival at the placement office. Spokesmen for SDS declared Kraavetz's refusal to hold interviews was a "major victory" and said Wednesday's protest was the first in a mounting massive antiwar campaign at the university. The sit-in began just 45 minutes after District Court Judge Harold D. Victor officially dissolved an injunction banning disruptive acts by protesters here.
