P-C 11 Now Charged in Sit-In Demonstration of Dec. 9 University of Iowa officials have added another person to the group of students and former students charged with violating university and Board of Regents conduct regulations during a sit-in demonstration on the campus Dec. 9. Currently eight students and three former students are under charge by the university and others may be added, UI officials say. A hearing has been scheduled Jan. 13 for the 11. UI officials said the former students are considered visitors to the campus. The regent rules of personal conduct state that a visitor who is found to have violated the rules may be permanently denied admission to or employment by any regent institution. The demonstration at the Career Counseling and Placement Office in the Memorial Union followed a rally held elsewhere in the building. Students for a Democratic Society, sponsor of the rally, also has been charged with violating the university's Code of Student Life. The rally was held to protest the scheduled appearance of a job recruiter from the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency. SDS was placed on probation last March as a result of an incident involving a job recruiter from the U.S. Department of Labor on Dec. 10, 1969. In the recent sit-in, the door to the placement office was locked for appxoimately an hour while a number of persons filled the corridor outside the door.
