Miller -49-] HECUBA'S CAULDRON It hasn't been, nor will it be, this column's practice to rant and rave about political issues, nor to advocate and endorse any particular ideological philosophy, for we have been able to live and thrive under almost every known kind of government which has had its day on the face of the earth and we shall continue to do so. But, when a particularly malignant growth inserts itself into our closely woven structure and begins to throw out destructive tentacles, which first paralyze and quickly dissolve that which it penetrates, into the very life-giving veins of our society, then at least one small voice shall be raised out of the apathetic silence which now seems to hang over those who owe their allegiance to the Black One. One voice at least and this column will be that voice, if no other can be heard. The malignant ideology of which I speak is the red serpent whose forehead bears the hammer and sickle of International Communism. The rapid infiltration of Communism into our midst has been appaling. Trained red agents, quickly and surely have slipped themselves into our inner-most ranks, have made swift and sure contact with the few 33
