THE EDITORS SALLY FORTH THE STAFF ~ You had better read this item and relish it - it's the only serious thing in the whole damn issue _______________________ [underlined] a radical change And it is indeed a radical one. We're still rather amazed about it ourselves. One day we sent out copies of a magazine intended as a "poor fan's Esquire" and the next day we're greeted with three manuscripts that overnight transform diablerie into a pocket-sized Judge and a drunken publication to boot. Oh well, we think the change is decidedly for the better, and hope that you will think the same. The addition of more color to the magazine brightens it up a good deal, also, we believe. The heads are now standardized, and we hope to keep them so. The blurbs were a last minute addition, but help toward the general attitude of the magazine. [underlined] another plea We are frankly at a loss for good material. People here in San Francisco are all so damnably busy they aren't able to find time to write anything for us. Or so it seems, anyway. If you think you can help us out, please let us see some examples of your work - either in the writing or illustrating line. This is a sincere plea, and we hope you won't disregard it. We also want to hear from all of you about diablerie. Your comments are our only guide, and unless you let us know what you like and dislike, how are we to know what to present to you? So why not drop us a line, just a few remarks and criticisms on which we can build. [underlined] prompter appearance Originally we had intended to issue diablerie as a tri-annual publication, but after a time we decided that a fanzine with that irregular appearance would be gone and forgotten soon after each issue's materialization. So, we have decided to issue diablerie about every two or three months - more often if possible - or collapse in the attempt. But we won't go back to tri-yearly publication. Better to let the magazine be discontinued than resort to such poor and hap-hazard appearance. [underlined] a small booklet As this issue is being put to bed - all other pages have been run off and lino cuts stamped - we are making plans for the publication of a small booklet of poetry by George Ebey. Will contain about thirty pages, with an introduction by Maliano. If there is any of his work circulating about fandom that your think we might not know about, please let us know by mail immediately. We wish, you see, to make the collection as complete as is possible. Thanx. And that is about all for this issue. You should find a happy hour or two ahead - we did. And please - don't forget to let us know whether or not we agree with you.
