Bob Tucker E E Evans Vol 4 No. 12 Whole No. 47 Le Zombie every other month from p o box 260, bloomington, ill May-June 1942 Cover by Roy Hunt Reproduced by Ackerman EDITORIALIES The poem over on yonder page was to have been printed in red ink upon the face of the Hunt calendar, last January. We found later that to do so would spoil both poem and calendar. So we publish it now, with the last of the Hunt drawings we have on hand. Future covers will be LeZ-ovliez or photograph covers or ???. Periodically, as you know only too well, we deep over LeZ because it isn't this or that. So at last, after we fell down to 4th place in the Widner fanzine poll, and after more than the usual quota of readers reminded us that we possess an unripe odor, we begin to do something about it. You'll find items in this issue which we hope starts us once agin on the upward path, most important among them the post car poll. Shortly we expect to begin a campaign to supply our own fans with free fanzines. You'll find the opening suggestion in Chris Mulrain's letter this issue. To really get action on this we intend to circularize the various fan editors and extract pormises of help. So those fan editors in the audience who want to duck responsibility had better fold their tents right now. --And incidentally, in case the first sentence of the paragraph perplexes you, we mean 'our own fans in service'. Brother Thompson down Lousiana-way failed to get his column in on time and consequently you'll be free of his droolings this issue. It may be that some ironic fate has caught up with him and 'Circus Day is over' for him. How thrilling fo find him in the cell next to Joe Quell, and Tiffany Thayer, and Art Widner and unknown others. Speaking of material in this issue, you'll find some one you know back again on the last page... but we confess Reinsberg is not guilty. We are. Here comes another blow at fan editors... will all those who can send extra copies of their fanzine to John Cunningham, 2050 Gilbert street, Beaumont, Texas, please do so? These copies will be sent by him to the prospective fans the National Fantasy Fan Federation 'welcoming committee' has located and interested in fandom. It will be your future advantage as well as fandoms. A godd fanzine is an interest-catcher. Meanwhile, we continue to urge you to adopt a fan in service and keep him supplied with prozines. Personally, we’ve adopted Dan Wade & have been sending a batch of prozines to Hawaii weekly. It doesn't cost a whole lot... we send three or four of them for about sixteen cents. That's pretty cheap considering the favor done the chap who can't get them. Over in the wee box to the right we make the usual crass announcement on the status of your subscription. Ten or fifteen cent will carry you the balance of the year. Thankee chum.
