1. Recruiting. The more fen we have the more fun we can have. 2. Projects. Aiding & promoting financially & or materially, long-range & large-scale endeavors which are not as likely to be done "anarchistically". There are only rare cases of people who will spend much time, money, & effort on a major undertaking with little prospect of financial or cultural return. However, there is a much larger number with enuf altruism to take a share in something of the sort, which is where organization comes in. 3. Outside Contacts. Can you think of any national hobby group which does not have an organization of some sort for this purpose? A little more responsibility & unification than has been evidenced in the past by fen in their outside contacts, is clearly indicated. 4. Establishing standards. Or rather, raising 'em. Thru the Welcom & the present series of articles on publishing, (& perhaps later a special Bureau for the purpose) new fen could be tactfully encouraged to put out better first efforts than in the past, & concrete help & advice could be supplied, in spite of the rather haphazard entries heretofore perpetrated. 5. General. We will derive the benefits that any group enjoys as a result of governing & disciplining itself. Anarchy may be the ultimate ideal, but homo sap is far from ready for it, & homo fan, on the record, can hardly claim to be more than an Angstrom unit nearer. . . . ______________________________________ Down Competition!
