THE FANTASITE 24 Fanta Scripts BOB TUCKER I'd like to know first, please, just what is it that this chap Tucker holds over you, your associates, or printers? Can it be that he keeps a greedy finger hooked thru the ribs of the skeleton in your closet, or that he contributes, ah...financially to your club treasury, or he simply possesses a good list of Hastings telephone numbers, of which you make use? I have taken the trouble to count the actual number of times his name appears in the April issue of Fantasite, and the sum total is staggering -- 17 times! My word! Isn't that rather stretching things a bit old chap? After all, isn't there some other possible way you can show your appreciation to him; such as making him an associate editor or the likes, with his name on the masthead? 17 times -- really! Otherwise this current issue is a little daisy dandy; I don't know, really, what that phrase means, but it sounds nice and seems fitting to use here. In fact, if I may be so bold, I should like to suggest that the time has arrived for Spaceways to move over and make room for you in its pew; for your fanzine now belongs on the front bench, y'know. I shall speak to Harry Warner about this the very next time I write; I'm sure he'll listen. Matter of fact, I know he will, for I have it on reliable authority he reads his mail the same day it is received. ((Gad! do we like this Tucker!)) I agree with Harry Jenkins on page 16, in that Pohl should buy more Tucker. Yes indeed, Pohl should contract to purchase the entire output of Tucker. This issue as a whole rates 9; not only that, but each and every item in the magazine rates 9. Yes indeed. You don't count the numbers anyway, so what does it matter what I rate it? Box 260, Bloomington, Illinois. DONN BRAZIER ...Now for the third issue of the mag... The Science-Weird Controversy 9; Oliver Saari 9; MFS Notes 7; Fantasy Factory? ; Sordid Saga 3; Now I Lay Me 5;Payment 6; Fanta-Notes 8; Fantascripts 10; Front Cover 9; Back Cover 7; Frontispiece 10; Makeup and mimeo duplication 10. The above paragraph gives the story in brief. Now I shall comment in more detail. Jacobi's thesis that the twain shall not meet is mostly true, and some untrue. Everything can be placed along the continuum between true and non-true; and his thesis is closer to the true pole. Nevertheless, using myself as an example, I am not in either the s-f camp or the weird camp. I read both; I like both . It is my opinion that the only real literature has come from the weird camp; if that puts me closer to the weird side, so be it. AMONG THE HAMS AND PROS should have dates attached to the reviews
