FAN SLANTS 35 IN INTRODUCTION.... editorial continued from page 4. as long as they are meritous and intelligently presented. The ideas expressed, as in the material in this issue, do not necessarily have to agree with those of the editor. Also, I do not wish to engage in verbal vendettas. This does not mean that we will ignore controversial subjects. We will merely try to present them as impersonally as possible. The main intention of this publication is to find out and present fan opinion, (at least that worth presenting). We don't, however, intend to furnish a place for them to battle, and do they love to battle. I have been very fortunate in this issue in being able to present material written by such eminent persons as Walt Daugherty, Philbert R. Bronson, James Keppner, and Francis T. Laney, also of course many others, who have something of interest to say and know how to say it. "Fran Laney's [?] "Toward Utopia" is a clear presentation of the many panaceas offered and like the rest of us he does not care for any one in particular. Walt Daugherty presents the more scientific side of the world of the future. Phil Bronson's viewpoints on you will find are worth reading although you may not altogether agree with him think well on what he has to say. Jimmy Keppner's "Fan Fout" will serve to introduce one of the most brilliant new minds in fandom. Watch this boy go up the list leading fans. His mag "Toward Tomorrow" is definitely a must on every fans hoped for list. Charlie Dye's "Mostly About Pros" and Forrey's "Forthcoming Fantasy Films" we hope will be regular departments. Also we will try to present many new authors next issue. We have no.intention of making a sectional mag out of fanslants. We would like to have articles from the rest of fandom if they fare [sic] to contribute. The format of the next issue will be much Improved. There will be fewer errors (like the one I just made); also all you artists we need cuts to go with our articles, how about it? The lack of art: work is probably the worst feature of the recent issue. Nevertheless we shall strive for improvement... bear with us. THE NEXT ISSUE OF FAN SLANTS WILL BE OUT IN JANUARY 1944 This Issue will include among other thins, a write up on fantasy films past and future by.....Forrey Ackerman Another book review by Sam Russel More Fan Fout....By James Kepner, the sage of south Blxel st. '"Much ado about nothing......by mel. and everything else we can get our hands on on that is worth presenting. By the way we are planning a Fiction and Poetry mag for FAPA and individual mailing So if you have any really good stuff let us have a look at it. SO... until the next issue...we'll be seeing you. Special note...This cover was supposed to be one single sheet to hide the back but due to an error at the mimeographers had to be turned out as single sheets, My apologies for lack of backing tape but am ready to mail & have no tine to get it.
