60. Science Adventure Stories ************************************************************ should be sharpened up a bit more (in the words of Raymond A. Palmer, whom I showed my copy to). Interior work -- good. J.V.B. is your best artist (also doing a swell job as an editor) but MAR did a good job illustrating Oswald Train's story. "Suggestions: charge five cents more and do a better job of hektographing and get better paper. Have a readers' section and advertisements. Also give your mag a little publicity. By that I mean write letters into Amazing, Astounding, and Wonder. "Hoping my criticisms will be of use in the shaping of your future policy of S.A.S. - you've got a good start." "Scroll Of Valoki" seems to be picked out by most readers as the best story in the issue. The matter of the cover has already received attention; all seems to find the same fault that you did. It was really an experiment on the part of J.V.B. Your suggestions are very good, and some of them will be used in the near future. And here is the reader's section. If you have some suggestions, I'd like to hear them. (Editor.) * * * Oliver E. Saari:- "Thanx a lot for that copy of S.A.S. It was quite a pleasant surprise to see that 'Space Station' had copped the cover. Thanks. All the drawings for the story were very well done -- a lot better than it deserved. The magazine on the whole was very good. Best story in my opinion was "Beauty And The Beast" by Ralph Milne Barley. Quite clever
