RE: Proposed re-routing of Highway # 61 through the City of Fort Madison, Iowa

Dear Miss Harper:

Please find enclosed herewith the original and a copy of the statment of position of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People with respect to he above-mentioned action of the Iowa State Highway Commission.

I would appreciate it if you would make arrangements to have some individual read the enclosed at the hearing on January 27, 1972 and submit the original at that time. Preferably it should be a member and officer of the Branch but I assume that such a decision in that regard depends on many circumstances, some of which we discussed over the telephone.

Please keep me advised on this matter, particularly after the hearing on the 27th.

I have forward a copy of the same to Robert Wright. Thank you for your attention and consideration herein.
