NAACP Special Contribution Fund 1790 BROADWAY / NEW YORK, N.Y. 10019 / 245-2100 July 25, 1972 Office of the Secretary of Transportation United States Department of Transportation Washington, D. C. 20590 ATTENTION: Richard F.Lally, Director of Civil Rights RE: The Proposed relocation of US Highway # 61 through Fort Madison, Iowa Dear Mr. Lally: In that I have not heard back from your office regarding my correspondence to you, dated June 22, 1972, respecting the above-mentioned matter, I am taking this opportunity to write you again. I would appreciate it if you would advise me as soon as possible of the Secretary's decision with respect to federal participation in this matter. For the reasons stated in my previous correspondence I reiterate that it is my belief that the Secretary of Transportation would be remiss in his duty if federal approval was forthcoming and federal monies expended in this project. Thank you for your immediate and full attention and acknowledgement herein. Sincerely yours [[signature]]James I. Meyerson James I. Meyerson Assistant General Counsel JIM/
