PREFACE This brochure has been prepared by the Iowa State Highway Commission for the use of those persons displaced from their home or business as the result of the Highway Commission's acquisition of land for highway purposes. The intent of the Highway Commission's Relocation Assistance Program is to insure that those persons being displaced do not suffer disproportionate injuries as a result of highway programs designed for the benefit of the public as a whole. The program assists owner occupied and tenant occupied displaced persons to find decent, safe and sanitary housing. It offers payment to land owners, tenants, businesses and farm operations for various moving expenses. And if offers certain additional payments to landowners, tenants and businesses where necessary to make it possible for them to obtain suitable replacement housing or to relocate their business. Relocation payments and advisory assistance are provided in addition to the state's offer for the purchase of your property needed for highway purposes. The Highway Commission's Relocation Assistance Program is staffed with full time field Agents to assist you with your relocation problems. They are available at all times and assigned to your particular area to answer your questions and to assist you in obtaining full benefits of the program.
