If assume 1.0 watt radiated, then 0.4 watt required for transmitter, at a 10 % duty cycle or 10 watt-hr/day or 1/4 lb of batteries / day of operation 15 lbs of batteries would operate for 60 days! Total payload for a self-sufficient 2 month experiment with very wide geographical coverage: 15 lbs. batteries 4 lbs. apparatus 5 lbs. antenna 20 mc/sec --------- 24 lbs. gross wt. May be considerably generous!
