6/8/1959 Today Abbie, Maurice and I attended the commencement exercises at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. I was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree. Gardiner [Cooles?] gave the principal address. President Russell Cole of Cornell presided. (Roy Nelson was my immediate sponsor).
