5/17/60 (Tues) During latter part of last week (Thursday the 12th I believe it was): N.A.S.A. attempted to orbit the 100 feet aluminum coated Mylar sphere for "Project Echo" with a Thor-Delta. The try was unsuccessful. - apparently second-stage failed "somehow"
