July 23, 1985 The Honorable Terry E. Branstad Governor of Iowa State Capitol Des Moines, IA 50319 Dear Governor Branstad: It is my understanding that you will be establishing a committee to assist in the search for a new Director of the Iowa Civil Rights Commission. The Committee will be playing a critical role in this process and the Black Community needs to have reliable input; also the establishment of the Black Citizens Advisory Council by your office this past spring can be of valuable use to you. If you are planning to have Blacks represented on the search committee, the Advisory Council can provide you with the quality Black persons that will be needed. I believe this inclusion of council members will translate to the members of the Council that you did truly mean for them to provide you with their expertise, knowledge, and commitment in the problem solving process needed in making sure that the people of Iowa are being served properly. Sincerely, [signature] Morris F Johnson MFJ/cv cc: Black Citizens Advisory Council
