These are both very important meetings! Please try to attend. Any persons who are unable to come because of lack of transportation, should feel free to call any of the officers or members of the Executive Committee. 
The Annual Region IV Leadership Training Conference will be held in St. Joseph, Missouri, April 21 - 23, at the Hotel Roubidoux in St. Joseph, Missouri. The Youth section will be held at the Holiday Inn in St. Joseph, under the direction of Mr. William Hardy, Youth Field Director of Region III from Indianapolis, Indiana. According to reports, the Banquet Speaker will be Mr. Mal Goode, News Commentator for the ABC Broadcasting Company.
From the Iowa State Employment Service, we have learned of a BRICKLAYER apprenticeship training program will be carried out in Sioux City and Des Moines. All applications must be in by March 20, 1967. Anyone interested, should contact the Mr. Art Hedrick at the local employment service. 
These training programs which were instituted under the Manpower Development and Training Act would be of great value to many members of the minority groups if it were only possible to show those who could benefit from them, the 'long-range' gains which could be achieved. It is true, that for a short time, a persons earning power is reduced, however, anyone who gets an education makes a sacrifice of one sort or another. The most important factor in these programs is that a man who previously had no chance to become a member of the skilled labor force, now, is able to do so. The demand for skilled labor is increasing, and men who are thinking and responsible will take advantage of those opportunities which are available, to improve their status in the labor force. 
Only the racist, the ignorant or the despicable 'Uncle Tom' can sit back and say with any conviction that no need for vigorous activity in the area of civil rights, in this country. Indeed, the 'need' has increased, although the politicians, white press and others, such as those mentioned, before would have you believe otherwise. Another murder...and two fires...or, really, we should say, another murder about which we have heard...for, there are many about which we never hear becuase they concern people who aren't considered 'important'...or, maybe because the press
