Saving...
-3- and America's only Black prelate, on amends due for the complicity of white churches and synagogues in the exploitation of blacks. "I must stress that the choice before the free states of the world... is not between peaceful change and no change. The choice is between peaceful change and conflict." -Julius Nyerere, president of Tanzania, on the choice for free states. "Dissent is not for anyone who is unwilling to take responsibility - and the consequences. True dissent requires that if one is going to attack or disrupt whatever is, he must have an intensely understood conception of what is wrong and what ought to be." - Mrs. Elizabeth Koontz, the Labor Dept. Women's Bureau director, on dissension On minority groups beginning to love and honor themselves..." This is not separatism . It is cultural pluralism - in which groups love and honor themselves and honor and respect other groups. This concept is not as American as apple pie. It is as American as pizza pie of gefilte fish." - James Farmer, assistant secretary of Health, Education and Welfare. On white Christianity....." We've Had a bellyfull. You've destroyed us with your Christian love - when you have given us what you no longer wanted, you have taken away our dignity and denied us a dream..." - Mike Bustamente, director of San Antonio's Mexican - American Neighborhood Organization. The HOME VISITS program will be starting, again soon!!! We hope that we will find eager and responsible participants for these sessions. Their purpose is to encourage a frank and open dialogue between the races in an informal atmosphere. All of us have different ideas... and all of them, need to be aired. Because of the segregated living patterns which exist in this community, as well as in the rest of America... the barrier of communication will never be destroyed, unless we realize that it is our responsibility to take the initiative and take an active part in some of the constructive programs which are available. If you would like to participate either as a guest or a host... whether you are Black or White.... please contact one of the following: Clarence Beecham - 372-1269 Orville Woods - 372-4736 Mrs. Dave Hug - 372-2625 DON'T BUY CALIFORNIA TABLE GRAPES! ! !
