CATTERMOLE MEMORIAL LIBRARY 614 SEVENTH STREET FORT MADISON, IOWA 52627 "I cannot live without books" ---THOMAS JEFFERSON Telephone 372-5721 April 13, 1971 Miss Virginia Harper 720 7th Street Fort Madison, Iowa 52627 Dear Virginia: Enclosed is a list of books about Black History and contemporary Black experience which I would recommend that the NAACP donate to the ISP library. The total cost of the books is $54.70. Mr. Abel from the prison can order these books through the Keosippi Area Library and by doing so take advantage of an average 39 % discount which would reduce the cost of this list to $33.34. Having him order the books this way has the added advantage of having them come cataloged and ready for use. If yo like I will be glad to talk to Bill about ordering them this way. Sincerely, [first name actual signature] Michael Phipps Director sg Enclosure
