page 2 - [Letter to Editor] the entire country. There is so much at stake, if adults are going to be so insensitive. We have to wonder what types of emotionally disturbing indignities, minority young people are being subjected to, on an on-going basis. If there is so little awareness among adults, certainly, the young people are being deprived. It is so important for them to learn that this is a multi-cultural world, and the ideas and feelings of all people are important. The attitudes which may be supported now, may not seem as creditable, in a world where more than three-fourths of the population is made up of people of color. If we are ever to know peace, we are going to have to learn to live with all people, regardless of their race, color, creed or national origin. It seems to us, that it would be much better to give our youth examples which will improve their outlook and broaden them as individuals. Our responsibility as adults, is awesome and should be taken seriously. Those of us who are truly concerned, will question and seek answers. In so doing, we will be meeting the challenge in a positive and responsible manner. Fort Madison, Branch, NAACP Virginia Harper - President P. O. Box Fort Madison, Iowa 52627
