SPACEWAYS 25 ADVERTISEMENT. DETAILED LIST OF THE GOLDEN ATOM BACK NUMBERS AVAILABLE The dates of publication of the nine issues of Golden Atom which have appeared are in the past, but Lylda's memory lingers on! Better get your copies while they're still easy to buy, as they're fast becoming much sought-after science-fiction items. Only from ten to twenty copies of many issues are still unclaimed, and even fewer of the others. The detailed list follows: No. 1: 20c; no. 2: 15c; no. 3: 15c; no4: 15c; no. 5 (the Weinbaum issue): one left, goes to the lucky person for half the price of this ad!; no. 6 (the Anniversary issue): three left at 35c; no. 7: 20c; no. 8: 20c; no. 9 (together with Stars): 20c; Science Fiction Fandom (the large 5-in-1 companion magazine): 25c. The following comments have been sent to the editor since the last issue. Address Golden Atom Publications, 48 Lewis Street, Rochester, New York. Why not send in your "report" also? From JOHN WASSO, JR: I have not yet had time to read the first three issues of Golden Atom but I can say that I'm certainly glad to have a complete file. Will send comments later. Here's my tabulation: vol 1--Best--Golden Atom Tales; (2) The Fantasy Record; (3) The Man on the Road (I based my rating on how much I enjoyed it at the time that I read it, regardless of whether I read something similar before or not. Apparently I was the only one who read it with an open unbiased mind); (4) From the Observation Post; (5) Science Fiction Dilemmas. Vol 2--Best---Golden Atom Tales; (2) Adventures of 4sj in Nuyok; (3) A Geological Nightmare; (4) Dread Visitor. Vol 3--Best--"Clark Ashton Smith--Emperor of Shadows" (I read this twice at the first sitting and will read it and study it many more times. Such beauty of words is rare indeed!); (2) Golden Atom Tales; (3) The Fantasy Record; (4) Special Xmas Surprise; (5) My Stay on Mars; (6) Doom, Horrible Doom! From SAMUEL D. RUSSELL: The last issue of G. A. was excellent, and I liked especially the two pages of pseudonyms; I'll miss that series more than anything of course, and Fischer's reminiscences were interesting (except for his peasant-headed depreciation of H. G. Wells). Stars was not as good as the first issue; The "Crystal Thoughts" are often not so hot, tho your ending to "Words at Parting" in G. A. was good. From RAJOCZ: This may be a surprise to you, but I liked Stars, both the first and second issues. Of the two issues, the second is the better. All of the "elevating bits of writing" were good, superb, and well worth reprinting. The best feature of the send issue was Miske's poem. The cover deserves mentioning. Hickox produced a good cover for the last Golden Atom. Korshak wrote an interesting piece in "Hidden Treasures Found in My Magazines". The Finlay poem was fair. The best feature of the issue was Fischer's "A Collector Reminisces". Fischer surely is thorough on whatever he writes. "Time-Travelling with Golden Atom" was the second best feature; the list of pseudonyms was the third best feature. From EARL SINGLETON: Thanks no end for the splendid and welcome comments on Neppie. I agree with you in everything you said--so you must be something like me. Thanks for Stars and G. A. Please pardon lack of detailed comment; I've no time. But i really enjoyed both of them, and am looking forward to more Stars if no more Lylda. (comments to be continued in the next issue of Spaceways.)
