Saving...
the other outfit were not a bit congenial. But I guess I wouldn't have been happy anywhere since I left home. I told you about my Kappa friend in Minneapolis, didn't I? Gwendolyn writes that some Minnesota Kappas have just moved into the house at Washington and asked her "if I knew 'the Dr. Browning from Iowa who gave Agnes McCarthy such a rash last year.'" She says, "I admitted it, & was then asked if 'it was anything serious.' I professed complete ignorance. Seriously, however - why don't you, Bob?" Can you imagine that ?! She doesn't know the lady at all and can't possibly have any personal grudge against her. You'd think she'd take the part of a sorority sister, too, wouldn't you? I am expecting to resign if the peace conference moves along smoothly and the world political situation gets nearer normal by summer. If things are seething the way they are now, I'll probably stay in the regulars a bit longer. There are surely breakers ahead and it will take real statesmanship to avoid a lot more bloodshed. If all's well I hope to get back to [Awes?] for next year's course in animal husbandry and farm management. Back to the land. I spent all my "savings" at Christmas so I'm not doing many expensive things. When I get out though I'm expecting to buy a farm. Good idea, what? One important item in the Christmas expenditure was an English Bull-pup - the cutest little thing you ever did see. I've named it Babs and have had more pleasure in it's companionship than I'd had since I came East, with the exception of my two leaves (Aug. & [illegible]) and an Oct. Sunday in New York. I suppose you are mighty glad to be back in [city?] again. I know I will be if things are so I'll feel justified in getting out in the summer. Letters are not my strong point as you know, but if you'll answer this me I'll get a reply to you within a week. Please tell me all the newest gossip. Your ol' college chumb Bob
