June 29 Dear Miss Williams Your prompt letter came yesterday making me ashamed of my delay. I purposely kept from writing as promptly as I wanted to because I knew how very busy you are and did not want to be wearisome through my much speaking. Letter writing is the most satisfactory way to spend the minutes after mess so that I can be terribly prompt in my replies when there is no brake on. I started this letter while waiting for "luncheon" but had hardly begun when "Come and get it" was announced. The food here is excellent now. In
