5. least spectacular achievement, it may also well be the most far reaching. Well ---- what are we doing about and what are the tangible results? My answer is threefold: We're doing more of the same thing (follow-up to Mrs. Henneman who said I had to talk about it); we have stimulated our minority group to do more (creating a climate for initiative, to a sociologist); we're gradually getting others to do differently (correcting discriminatory practices to you, the outside observers). Our most impressive follow-up has been the formation of a Mayor's Committee which is continuing an educational program in the areas where the Survey indicated our most serious problems exist. This Mayor's Committee also provides a board of appeal where specific cases of discrimination may be reported. a survey of all employable Negroes to discover who is seeking better jobs and his qualifications, was finished [by the Mayor's Committee] this summer.
