The bulldozer takes over from the plough, and the new crop on the converted farmland is homes. But schools, and churches, are often forgotten. This is indeed the modern frontier...for society, and for the church. For the life of the Church is the local church. There men worship, seek communion with the living God, unburden their sins, and gain strength to meet life. Fellowship, togetherness, education and service begin there. And the local church, multiplied, creates the association, the conference, indeed the denomination itself. Hence, the Board of Home Missions has a real concern with evangelizing new communities, and helping to establish new churches. Genesis of a Church In san Jose, as row on row of orange trees in outlying groves gave way to neat rows of new homes, the alert minister of the First Congregational Church, anxious les religion fail to meet this growing need, took his concern to his people. Immediately, things began to happen. The minister and church board consulted the Conference Superintendent.
