Nov. 8 1978 Dear Jo and John and "Children", Here I am back in Iowa at this, a retirement home. Deciding to come back here after my hope to spend the rest of my life among books is too long to tell here so I'm planning a letter to tell about it. Glad to be here, though very happy to have worked and lived among Miss. blacks for 11 years. The church folk were most gracious in their kindness, helping me load the U-hail and guiding Mary Lou Mc[Grew?], who came down from Iowa to "carry" me back to Iowa reminded me of leaving St. Marks in 1967.
