FANTASY FICTION FIELD 5[cents] The National Illustrated Fantasy News Review Volume 2 Number 4 April 19, 1941 Whole Number 27 LESLIE PERRI IS EDITOR OF A NEW PROFESSIONAL MAGAZINE (page 12) HEINLEIN COPS SECOND NOVA Robert [indecipherable] Heinlein, author of "If This Goes On", first serial story in Ast. to win the rarely-given "nova" designation, receives his second nova rating with a novelette in the forthcoming, May, issue. The title of the story is "Universe" and its about a civilization in a spaceship that missed its goal. Anson MacDonald, author of "Sixth Column" is back with the other novelette in this issue of Astounding (video cover below, by the by). The title is "Solution Unsatisfactory", and you may remember reading, editor Campbell's remarks on the yarn in his "In Times to Come" department. It's about an irresistible weapon and it raises a problem: how can you control one of those things. The serial, of course, is L. Sprague de Camp's "Stolen Dormouse", and this is the second of two parts. Among the short stories we find: "Liar!" by I. Asimov, all about a robot who had been made telepathic, by mistake, of course --! Then there's "Jay [Scoro?]", by E. Frank Russell, which tells about difficulties in repairing spaceships. Vic Phillips and Scott Roberts have collaborated on "Fish Story", while Harry Walton rounds out the issue with "Subcruiser". Illustrations in this issue are by Kramer, Rogers, and Schnecman. Cover by Rogers. FUTURIANS RUN FOR FAPA OFFICE Don Wollheim and Doc Lowndes, two charter members of the Fantasy Amateur Press Association, will be candidates for Vice President and President, respectively, in the forthcoming annual FAPA elections. Wollheim was one of the co-founders of the organization, and has, in the past, served in every other official capacity save the post for which c is now running. Lowndes has served in the past as Vice President, and has twice been Chief Critic, which post he holds at the present time.
