I was confronted by two women, which informed me of the event taking place and asked my companion and I to go around the park. We were, after indicating our intention to walk across the park, to walk across it while being escorted. This escort varied in number by was at least one to one. I don't feel I should have been confronted or escorted through a public park no matter what was going on. I should not in any case have to justify my right to be in or walk across a public park. The offering of a separate but equal meeting for "men" was offered again and again as a justification for the attempted exclusion. The guards were wearing arm bands and assumed paralegal functions such as confronting men, patrolling to confront men, and escorting men who forcefully wanted to walk across the park. The precious Friday I was witness to an event which confirmed to me the discriminatory nature of the event. After my 11:20 class adjourned, I left Schaeffer Hall and began to cross the Pentacrest. I observed a woman with leaflets standing off to the side of the sidewalk. These leaflets publicized the event I has charge in this document.
