CFS Review CFS Review the night of the fifth will be taken up by the traditional auction where everything from originals to fanmags will be auctioned off. We originally planned to have Erle Korshak as auctioneer, but since we've had no reply from him and Tucker informs us Erle has dropped from activity (temporarily at least) and therefore we are appointing: Julie Ungar of Fantasy Fiction Field fame to do the job, he doesn't know it yet at the time of this writing. Sunday [6th) in the morning will be a clean up meeting. If the entire contents of the auction has not been disposed of, as in the case of the Chicon, this will be completed. If there are any speeches of unfinished business from any of the other meetings, these will be cleared away. After this if there is time we will start the business meeting of the Denvention in which resolutions are introduced, various topics debated and voted upon, and above all, where the next convention will be held. This was originally scheduled to start in the afternoon meeting, but if we can get an early start then recess for lunch and devote ail afternoon to this, more till be done and everyone have a better chance to air his views. That night the Denvention will officially terminate with a banquet in honor of Robert A. Heinlein. The plates for this banquet will be either 1.25 or $1.50 per plate. As you have probably noticed, we are again presenting a map of downtown Denver. Within the next paragraphs we'll attempt to give yon complete directions of how to get to the Shirley-Savoy regardless of your approach into Denver. As you might also have noticed, we stated in the last Review we would give you the details then, but due to space limitations we were unable. Whether you come In your car, by bus, freight, passenger, or thumb, you should need no further information or instructions. If you do not want to clip this out, it might be well to copy it and keep it in your wallet, for we think we've simplified the directions to the ultimate and a city map with its screwy layout would only tend to confuse you, *** If you come by passenger, you will naturally land at the depot. If you have not already made previous arrangements with us it is but a short walk up 17th to the Shirley which can be seen from the depot. If you come by freight, it is little effort to locate the depot from the freight yards and hence on to the hotel. If you're dirty from riding the freights (which you will be) you are welcome to come to either Wiggin's or Martin's place to clean up before you register regardless of your appearance. We'll know how you'll feel too. ** If you come by bus you'll be within two blocks of the hotel directly down 17th. ** If you come in from the East on Highway 40, all you do is follow it in, and once within the city it is named Colfax. Continue West past the State Capital and turn right at Colfax and Broadway. There it is but two blocks North. ** If you come in from the West on Highway 40, you merely follow it In where it is called W, Colfax. Continue East on Colfax till your past the Civic Center and around the small semi-circle and you're at Colfax and Broadway. Turn left and two blocks North is the hotel. ** If you come from the North you will follow the highway into the city where it is named Federal Blvd. Follow Federal until you hit West Colfax and turn East. Then follow W. Colfax and come in from there like those from the West. Incidentally the highway that runs into Federal is 285. ** If you are coming in from the South on highway 85, follow it North. It is called Santa Fe Drive, which incidentally you will be following the historic trail of the old West, the Santa Fe Trail. This street does considerable weaving along the Platte River and eventually runs into West Colfax at the point where Colfax bridges Cherry Creek. Turn right here and follow W. Colfax into Broadway as those from the West. *** With that there should be little excuse for getting confused and lost coming into the city regardless of your approach. Well, we'd like to write more but there was some delay getting the paper, which is the crummiest stuff we've seen in some time, and so we're late now and had better get it in the mail so at least the postman can hand it to you as you're going out the gate with your suitcase. — Auf wiedersehen —
