th Oct 20 A fine day we ironed Lena & W L took chickens to Elgin a crate of old hens got a 100 weight of sugar I patched all day Auldens laundra came this morning Lena washed it before she went to town I fixed his underwear & socks Fri Oct 21 A nice day we opened our sack of sugar today we we made chilly sauce tomato preserves will 15 qts in all the men finished filling silo at F Ruts at noon today sat Oct 22 A fine day we made more pickles som garden huckleberries preserves & ground cherri preserves Wallace & Lena took more chickens to Elgin this afternoon got some potatoes sun Oct 23 A fine day Wallace Lena & the girls brot me to Dubuque today am at Claras for a while hope they got home safe
