Then too, two Conventions would serve to confuse many potential Convention attenders. And the professional magazines. That too would create difficult problems, because the pros are getting reluctant about buying fan ads. With two competing groups after advertisements, and the fellows in New York able to steal a march on the Denver boys, it isn't very hard to---well to appreciate the difficulties of this situation. It's hard enough to put on a successful Convention with everyone boosting you, and not having any competition. With the Three Famous Fans opening up shop accross the street, and creating bad blood in fandom, the future is none too bright. Denver has been picked by representitive fandom at the Chicon, as the site of the next Convention. Money, labor, and time have been expended to this end. Fandom (except for those few people who have personal axes to grind) is behind the Denvention. Such being the case, we must ask New Fandom to jump on the bandwagon, and if the Three Famous Fans cannot attend the Denvention, as was the case at the Chicon, at least let them show their sense of fair play, by endorsing and advertising the Denvention. If they CANNOT wait until their turn comes around again, I can only voice the thoughts of Illinois Fandom by repreating the words of T. Bruce Yerke, of Los Angeles: "To hell with you, New Fandom, to hell with you." finis Post Script: Upon a visit to Raymond A. Palmer, editor of Amazing Stories and Fantastic Adventures, recently, a question arose during my discussion with him. "Have you heard about New Fandom's attempt to grab off a Convention for themselves in Newark, this coming Summer??" Before I could say a word as to the views of the Chicago fans on the matter, and to try my best to convince him that Denver was the place to support, he shot back at me, "I sure have. Just read about it in some fan magazine. So to do my bit I explained to my readers in my editorial coming up in the new Amazing that Denver is the official place." Thus spake Palmer. The following Illinois Fans endorse Denver, in 1941, both by words said at the Chicon, or by later statements: Erle Korshak, Mark Reinsberg, Bob Tucker, Richard I. Meyer, Sully Roberds, George Tullis, Chuck Wright, W. Lawrence Hamling, Walter Leibsher, Bob Osterman, Milton Latzer, etc., PLUS all of the Chicago professional writers and authors!!! auf Weidersehen in Denver
