GOSSIP DUDDIES Abbey Lu Ashley's former activities, were official hostess of Slan Shack, centered on entertaining, and had a regular USO group, too. The Editor of the mac, SIR, publishes only manuscripts written by men so when Frances Rocklyn wrote and sent her manuscript to him, it arrived under a ficticious man's name. When the Editor decided on a write up and picture, Frances sent Walter Daughtery's photo. Fandom will never see above as it was cancelled soon after. The West Coast heard that Thelma Morgan, from Slan Shack Gang, is a Civilian employee at Percy Jones General Hospital, and drives an Army Jeep. Too bad that Thelma was not able to come to Los Angeles with the rest of the Slan Shackers, as we are anxious to see her mount and remount that Jeep. Jack Weidenbeck, Walt Leibsher, Al and Abbey Lu Ashley, and Darlene, have been very lucky as they found apartments in less than a week, when people, who have lived in LA for a long time, have not been able to find even a room. They are established across the street from Tendril Towers where they rent from fan Myrtle Douglas. FLASH! SLAN SHACK JITTERBUG HITS PACIFIC COAST Mr. Walter Leibsher accompanied the LA Daughtery family to Wednesday Rhumba Club, October 3rd, learned the Rhumba, and outdid everyone. Then, proceeded to fling a good jitter and amazed everyone. Elma Wentz, wife of Robie Wentz, (popular SF author), is screen analyst for Warner Brothers' Studio.
