MFS BULLETIN Volume Two -- ... an MFS Publication -- Number Five Space Tales had at the most only 10 or 15 subscribers. Ludowitz was aiming for seventy, and claimed his mag would soon be one of the Top Ten. He once said Spaceways had only 55 subscribers, but I'm inclined to doubt this. Ludowitz, however, got his paper, ink, stencils, etc, at half-price, which helped offset financial losses. I think, though, that the main reason why Space Tales folded was due to TL's discouragement. He once said that he had sent some extra material to Paul Cox, who was planning a new fmz. Naturally he wouldn't have sent the cream of his material to Cox; perhaps he sent culls. If so, I don't want to see Cox's mag when it appears! - if it ever does.... --H Loren Sinn Arrangements are being made now for a special feature in the third issue of Tycho; a feature which can't be revealed here, yet, but which is guaranteed to evoke comments of admiration. The idea hasn't fully hatched yet, which is why it would be unwise to reveal it here without first learning whether it is or is not possible! --jlg Charles McNutt plans a new fanzine, name of Utopia. Features a Giunta cover which was drawn and litho'd for Starlit Fantasy (which has been discontinued). Also features a well-done cover by Ronald Clyne, litho'd in black. Materially, The Sorcery of Rama Da by Harold Taylor, a ten-paged piece of fiction which is supposed to be quite good, a column on Demonology and Devil-Worship by Jack McWilliams, and a series of articles and columns rounds out the bill. It might be worth a look-see. --jlg Walt Liebscher, Walt Kubilius, Neil DeJack and Frank Robinson all perambulated to the hotel room of ECCO Connor on Sunday, December 6th. Fangabbing was indulged in by all, and the usual fan-stuff was done. After the fangab we all journeyed to places thither and yon in search of book and magazine bargains. Walk picked up Dorothy Mecardle's "The Uninvited" and several other things. The rest of the boys some old Astoundings and Weirds. After the book splurge we went back to Ecco's room and consumed some wine and played cards. A FANciful time was had by all attendees. Further meetings scheduled. --Walt Liebscher It's unofficial, but Neil DeJack, one of the Windy City Wampires Charter Members expects to be wedded to Uncle Sam in the near future, but doesn't know exactly when. However, he expects to leave kinda sudden like. --Walt Liebscher Latest Fort MacArthur Bulletin received. Four articles by Ackerman checked off, one even mentioning LASFS! Darn it, we like this little sheet. --jlg
