TYCHO Page 9 _________________________________________ of superman, or horrible monster, would be the result? Minutes passed. Carol opened her eyes. Nothing happened. Fear came into the scientist's eyes. Tom sat down limply, sudden realization dimming his heart and mind. He mumbled; "The inhibitor neutralizer works, Dr Bruce, but there's one thing we failed to consider: Man has already reached the top of his evolutionary ladder!" Carol and Tom left Dr Bruce, his head on the table - the empty hypodermic near his hand. They walked slowly down the hill toward the brook. Candles had gone out around the world, but they found their peace by the brook in the light of the moon. The Moon grew cold. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Editorializing:- Apologies are in order for the very poor duplication last issue, The mimeography was, in most places, well-nigh unreadable, and we do apologize. We hope, of course, that our reproduction this issue won't be quite as bad. However, without just trying to "pass the buck", we insist that out supplies were largely at fault. The paper used was definitely inferior (though it cost more than our present stock), and the ink was, sorrowfully, that kind that is used in automatic-inking machines, and my mimeograph is a brush-ink duplicator. The paper "bled", ie; allowed the ink from one page to soak through to the other side; the ink was far too runny, and all collected at the bottom of the pad, and that page printed darker at the bottom than at the top. At any rate, we apologize and hope this issue & any others we may happen to publish, will be much neater. Apologies over, we'd like to do a little begging -- for, of course, material. It was a very difficult job collecting material enough for this issue, and if certain gentlemen hadn't come to my assistance, you probably wouldn't have seen this for another month or two. Articles are welcome, and so far, no distinct policy has been set, so your mss will have an equal chance -- not that we're assuming that everyone is going to run for the chance to have material in Tyk -- but simply that any kinf of topic can be discussed. The next issue will appear if and when there is enough material on hand, but perhaps not all. It depends mostly on oyou. Comments are very welcome, of course, on this issue. We'd like to have you use the 1-to-a-100 system, as outlined in the last issue, but - please, comments are more welcome than ratings alone. If you have just a little time, would you jot down a note or two about some feature or item in this issue? -- John L. Gergen
