F.F.F.NEWS WEEKLY Illustrated Vol 1 - No 9 December 28, 1940 5¢ TAURASI PASSES MEDICAL TEST WILL PROBABLY BE TAKEN IN ARMY AROUND JANUARY 8th 1941 James V Taurasi, famous fan, announced today that he has passed his Medical examination at his Draft Board and will probably be taken into the U S ARMY around January 8th, 1941. As far as is known he is the first active fan to be drafted. Taurasi will continue activities in fandom and professional science fiction as best as he can. He will continue to publish COMETEER MONTHLY, but probably not monthly. His agency that he runs with Moskowitz will be continued by Moskowitz and Taurasi's sister Millie. Taurasi plans to do some serious writing and break into the pro mags as a fiction writer. Taurasi has been doing the mimeogarphing for FFF since it began, thus after he leaves for the ARMY Julius Ungor will either have to Photo-offset FFF or find someone else who will mimeo it for him. Maybe he will obtain his own mimeo and do the job himself. Taurasi states that he will do all he can to continue in SFF as he has in the past. fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff Doc Lowndes becomes Editor of Future Fiction Doc Lowndes announced in a letter to your editor that he has become the new editor of Future Fiction. The only statement he would make is: "I think it (future Fiction) will be improved. Taurasi's column FANTASY TIMES will be discontinued and a column called FUTURIAN TIMES will take its place done by the editor Lowndes. Charlie Hornig was not fired from this job, but quit because he was not getting enough money for editing it. FAMOUS FANTASTIC FORECAST Beyond the Great Oblivion will be the next feature novel in FANTASTIC NOVELS, after Merritt's DWELLERS IN THE (continued on Page 34) F F F ILLUSTRATED WEEKLY COVERS THE ENTIRE FIELD
