school history to youngsters. Not until it is properly presented will our children achieve that same sense of "eternity-consciousness" which will enable them to see their own life and times in the proper perspective, that will enable them to KNOW that [[underline]]Man[[end underline]] is advancing, no matter how much [[underline]]Men[[end underline]] may apparently be retrogressing. Having two sisters that are school teachers, I have recently found that this point is beginning to be stressed to a limited but growing extent. There are even being printed now a few history books which do utilize to some extent this method. And that is a very, very good thing, i do believe. I know that it was not done in my day, nor when my children were studying this subject. In fact when I would mention something of the sort to my kids, and ask them about certain such matters, they would not know what I was talking about, until I had thoroughly explained it to them. I do think that they now know and understand this method of historical scanning. I only wish that ALL children, all over the world, could be so taught. I think it would advance them immeasurably along the road to a greater optimism for the future of mankind, and condition them better for life in this sometimes sad and perplexing world of ours. If all the children of the world were so taught, do you not believe they would do something about these sorry messes when they became adult, and grew into positions of power? One thing I think most important in the teaching of His Story (I'll never forget the thrill I got when I first found the word written that way, and realized its concept!) -- is that the children should be taught, until they realize, and understand thoroly and perfectly, that the real sweep of history takes no though of individuals as such, no matterhow great their seeming place in historical literature. It deals with trends, with cycles, causes and effects. It is hard for many people to realize that fact, of course, since people themselves are individuals, and tend to think in terms of individualism. The inspired teacher of History can make the pupil scan the whole scope of History for the past five or six thousand years -- make them see the onward and upward sweep of Man as he trudges the long weary road from animal barbarism to the state of Universal Brotherhood that is sure to come. Then they would be able to see more clearly how Man has advanced, in spite of reverses and set-backs -- even those now in progress. They would see that in the early days the kings and high nobles actually felt that the common people were as different from themselves as though they were horses 17
