ORIENTATION Your first big introduction to SUI will come with the Orientation program, one of the largest undertakings of AWS. In order to properly introduce you to campus life, faculty, staff, and students, AWS, working with Student Senate, invites you to attend the wide array of activities planned for Orientation Week, scheduled just before the opening of classes. For years, undoubtedly, you have head of college Orientation, and by now you have received material about SUI's Orientation this fall. Orientation at SUI is a wonderful program planned just for you. It's casual and informal, like SUI, and a barrel of fun. Orientation is something you won't want to miss! It's a MUST for getting the right start on your road to singing along with SUI. Although you will be on the receiving end this fall, in future years at SUI we hope that you will choose to join the many enthusiastic SUIowans who help to orient incoming students to college life. SPINSTER'S SPREE Since Leap Year comes but once every four years, AWS has made it possible for all you coeds to snag that fellow on the "off-years," too. The annual Spinster's Spree all-University dance is your chance to do the asking and the planning. Preceding the dance will be T.W.I.R.P. (The Woman Is Required to Pay) Week, when the tables are turned. Committee membership on Spinster's Spree is fun and an outlet for your talents in decorating, entertaining, hostessing, and other organizational activities. Under the general chairman are five subcommittee chairmen and their respective aides. You are eligible to apply for a subcommittee membership; selection is made on the basis of applications early in the fall. Should you be one of the lucky ones picked by the screening committee, you'll have your turn to show your talents. We know they'll be appreciated. Spinster's Spree is one of the largest social events of the year; it's something you'll want to attend. UNIVERSITY SING University Sing is part of Mother's Day Weekend which gives all of you with a special interest in choral music a chance to show off. Each year, every housing unit is invited to participate in choral ensemble work featuring groups composed of and directed by you, students of SUI.
