to participate in choral ensemble work featuring groups composed of and directed by YOU, the students of SUI. Because of the large number of entering groups, each contestant is required to take part in semifinals. From this, a select group of ensembles is chosen to sing on the Sunday afternoon of Mother's Day Weekend. Following judging by qualified musicians, first-, second-, and third-place winners are chosen. Competition is keen! It's fun, exciting, and rewarding. If your housing unit needs a trophy to fill a spot in your trophy case, U-Sing is one of the many activities in which you'll want to take part. If you really haven't much of a voice, but lots of talent and enthusiasm for organizing an all-University activity like U-Sing, then you'll want to take part in the planning. The chairman of U-Sing is a member of the AWS General Council and is selected each fall through application, as is her Committee. Mother's Day Weekend When May arrives, SUI students roll out the red carpet for their families, especially the mothers. A University Advisory Committee assists the Mother's Day Weekend Committee in planning the gala events for their special guests. Guided tours of campus departments, the Seals Water Show, and University Sing provide mothers and their whole families with fun. Highlighting the festivities is the annual Mother's Day Luncheon, at which the SUI Representative Mother of he Year is presented. You'll feel closer to your mother after the weekend of fun you enjoy together next spring under the sponsorship of AWS Mother's Day Weekend Committee. Tell your mom about it now! Profile Previews An event planned especially for YOU, a new undergraduate coed at SUI, is Profile Previews, the annual fashion show sponsored by AWS. Each girl wishing to participate models an outfit from her own wardrobe, be it sportswear, campus wear, suit, coat, dressy dress, or cocktail wear. If you've never modeled before, don't worry because the Profile Previews Styles Committee will give you the necessary "know-how." After these preliminaries, a panel of fashion experts pick ninety girls to model in the actual show and then pick one girl as Miss Perfect Profile with two other girls as her attendants. Applications for the tryouts will be available early in the fall, so start looking through your closet for just the right outfit to wear! 15
