Intermission Cultural opportunities provide the perfect break from the routine of studying and extracurricular activities. Here at Iowa you will find a wide variety of exhibits, concerts, lectures, and plays which will add another dimension to your liberal education. The University Theatre gives students a chance to see performances by graduate and undergraduate students that rival those of any professional company. The selection of plays presented ranges from classical theater to modern productions, and thus gives the University community an opportunity to see many varieties of drama. This year some of the productions were the musical Brigadoon, Shakespeare's Hamlet, and Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen. If you enjoy the theater you will want to sample the Studio Theatre as well, where original plays written by students are often staged. The Friday afternoon Studio Matinee offers less elaborate performances weekly. Popular entertainment is presented by Central Party Committee, which brings such big names as the "Smothers Brothers," "Peter, Paul and Mary," and the "Limelighters" [hand drawn] woman reading PLAY BILL 14
