SPINSTER'S SPREE — AWS and Central Party jointly sponsor this annual spring dance. The tables are turned this times — the girls make all the arrangements for the evening, while the fellows are kept busy campaigning for their candidates in the MEBOC contest (Most Eligible Bachelor on Campus). The high point of the evening is the presentation of Mr. MEBOC. INFORMATION FIRST — This committee arranges for prominent persons to speak on local, national, and international topics. The programs are held in the Senate Chamber of Old Capitol at 4:00 Thursday afternoons. These lectures include a variety of interesting topics; everyone is invited. THE AMERICAN RED CROSS COLLEGE UNIT — This committee works in cooperation with the Red Cross and gives service through its varied programs. The major part of the committee's work is done at the Veterans Hospital. The AWS members participate in entertaining the men and also plan special parties for them. If this work interests you, be sure to sign up at the ARC booth during the AWS open house. FOREIGN STUDENTS — The Foreign Student Committee promotes friendship and better understanding among SUI students from all over the world. The AWS committee works with students from various nations in preparing dinners typical of their native country. The climax of the committee's activities is the Foreign Student Festival presented just before the Christmas holidays. The Festival features an array of colorful, informative booths. Each country also prepares a skit for the pageant given that evening. The Festival has been a great success and is now a tradition at SUI. 24
