YWCA The Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) sponsors numerous projects and activities, all open to you. Each member belongs to a small discussion group of her choice in one of the areas of Christian Heritage, Personal Life, Nation and World, or Campus Life. To learn more about committees and the discussion group which you'll join, attend the YWCA's open house on Tuesday, October 2. The Executive Council, project chairmen, and commissions chairmen comprise the cabinet to direct the Y's program throughout the year. Chosen for the Council in all-University elections are Joyce Garber, president; Mary Jane Harms, vice-president; Dorothy Schwengel, secretary-treasurer; Marsha Brubaker, finance chairman; and Jane Richter, freshman advisor. Committee and commissions chairmen are selected by Council from applications. Of the following projects and committees, you are certain to find ones especially slanted to your personal interests. [hand drawing of girl] YWCA MUMS FRESHMAN "Y" — In addition to mass meetings, the Freshman "Y" sponsors a number of smaller fellowship groups which meet separately once a week. You will elect your own officers in Freshman "Y" and plan your own projects such as the Homecoming Mum Sale, although you work in conjunction with the Senior "Y" for several activities. MAJOR IN MARRIAGE — This series of lectures on the psychological and physical aspects of marriage is open to the whole University. Faculty members from the schools of sociology, medicine, religion, and psychology speak on topics including dating, the engagement period, and religious problems in marriage. The Commission on Personal Life arranges for the series. WORLD RELATEDNESS — Nation and World Commission promotes friendly relations with students at SUI from foreign countries. Dinners at faculty homes for foreign students on campus and the annual book drive for financial aid in foreign countries are only two of the activities in World Relatedness. Inter-denominational Thanksgiving Vespers in 25
