the Danforth Memorial Chapel are planned by the Commission on Christian Heritage. Morning chapel broadcasts over WSUI and devotions at "Y" meetings are a part of the group's emphasis on Christian thought. HOSPITAL SERVICE — Extensive programs at the General Hospital, Children's Hospital, Psychopathic Hospital, and Oakdale TB Sanitorium compose the comittee's service in the YWCA. Members participate in crafts, visitation, reading programs, and variety shows for the shut-ins. SUMMER PROJECTS — Here you more about YWCA camping programs and summer positions in social service. People who have actually participated in these summer activities, such as in government work or work in foreign countries, tell the group of the advantages to them personally. PERSONAL SERVICE — A newly initiated program was added to Personal Service, a baby sitting bureau for the mothers in Iowa City. Girls with this interest meet to set minimum wages and to learn more about the fundamental practices of caring for children. Office receptionists each spend just one hour a week helping to operate the YWCA office in the Iowa Memorial Union. If you enjoy working with people in handicrafts or recreational projects, you will be able to direct activities at the Iowa City Community Center. PUBLIC RELATIONS — The media of newspaper, radio, and special displays are encompassed in the committee's work, through which they inform coeds of YWCA activities. "Word to the Y's", the YWCA's own newspaper, is sent to all members regularly. SOCIAL COMMITTEE — The Silver Tea at the home of President and Mrs. Hancher is an annual event coordinated by members of the Social Committee. High School girls from surrounding areas see the YWCA at SUI in action when they attend the Y-Teens Day during spring. Open House is sponsored early in the fall to acquaint girls with all the various programs offered to them. Serving others through the YWCA helps build your personality. At the same time you have a lot of fun and won't give possible pangs of homesickness a chance to settle. Acquaint yourself with specific YWCA functions at their open house on Tuesday, October 2, as well as at the open house of all campus organizations on Wednesday, September 19. 26
